Tillamook Elks Lodge 1437 Americanism Committee Chairman Dan Grove Maria Brooks, Vern McClendon and George Schmader Committe Members TILLAMOOK ELKS LODGE 1437 AMERICANISM ESSAY CONTEST WHY I AM PROUD TO PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO OUR FLAG Judging of the essay was completed January 12^th , 2012. We received 6 essays for Division I (5^th  & 6^th  grades) and 23 essays for Division II (7^th & 8^th grades). Certificates were provided to all entrants, judging these essays was a real challenge. The top five in each division all received a framed copy of the Pledge of Allegiance and thier essays are posted in the Lodge Lobby. The first, Second and Third Places received a check for $75, $50 and $25 and were forwarded to district for further competition. A special thank you to Kim Norberg and Marvin Brewer for helping to get the great participation from East Elementary and Tillamook Junior High Schools. These schools received framed documents for highest participation. All of our entrants did a fantastic job. We have already started preliminary planning for next year’s contest. We look forward to the lodge’s support for this great project. Remember Boy Scout Day is February 8th and President Day is the 20^th .
